La Salle’s Helene Usher from Haddonfield places 17th at Atlantic 10 Championships!!!!!!

Helene Usher ran 21:15 over 6,000 meters at Pole Green Park in Mechanicsville, Va., and placed 17th out of nearly 150 runners at the Atlantic 10 Championships on Saturday.

Usher, a Haddonfield graduate and La Salle sophomore, was the Explorers’ No. 2 runner. Teammate Gwenno Goode, a sophomore from Ysgol Gymraeg Bro Morgannwg medium comprehensive school in Barry, Wales, won the race in 20:10.4.

La Salle placed 4th with 13 points. Loyola scored 36, with U. Mass. [113] and George Mason [121] 2nd and 3rd.

Usher, who’s run 17:055.55 for 5,000 meters on the track, ran 17:42 5K pace for 6,000 meters.

She ran within about 10 seconds off her lifetime all-course best of 21:05 from the Paul Short Run on Lehigh’s south campus in Bethlehem and Lower Saucon Township.

La Salle, ranked 11th in the NCAA Division 1 Mid-Atlantic Region, races in the Mid-Atlantic Regional race a week from Saturday on Penn State’s Blue and White course in State College, Pa.

Top South Jersey finisher in the men’s race was St. Joe’s freshman Jack Bolling from Haddon Heights, 43rd in 25:05 and the 7th freshman overall. St. Joe’s senior Dawson Baptiste from Delsea finished six yards back in 51st.
