Haddonfield boys take 3rd in Shore Coaches E race without their top five runners!!!!!!

The Haddonfield boys placed 3rd in the Varsity E race at Shore Coaches Saturday with a 61-second gap between their 1st and 5th runners and a 17:57 team average.

Pretty impressive, right?

What makes it more impressive is that Haddonfield didn’t run any of its top group.

Haddonfield is racing at the Manhattan College Invitational Sunday at Van Cortlandt Park in the Bronx, and it doesn’t make sense to for them to schedule two hard efforts on challenging courses a week apart.

So Haddonfield used its second group, who are all very good runners in their own right and would be in the top five on most other New Jersey teams.

Senior Case Hurly led the way for Haddonfield in 7th place in 17:20, senior Leonardo DiCello was 15th in 17:45 and senior Linus Kucer and sophomore Owen Snyder both ran 18:09 and placed 28th and 29th. Junior Michael Sinnes rounded out Haddonfield’s top 5 in 36th place in 18:21.

Haddonfield’s likely top five in New York next weekend will be junior Luke Andresen, senior Bennett Wright, junior Ryan Gibson, junior Benjamin Andrus and junior Peter Simpson.

Haddonfield is ranked 2nd in New Jersey and 1st among public schools.

Cedar Creek placed 5th in Varsity E, with juniors Sean Martino, Ryan McCann and Vincenzo Vecchio all in the top 15. Martino ran 17:23 for 8th, McCann 17:29 for 11th and Vecchio 17:33 in 13th. Senior Evan Hendrickson [49th in 18:46] and senior Brayden Parker [93rd in 19:49] rounded out Cedar Creek’s top 5.

Also under 18 minutes was Bishop Eustace senior Ethan Caprarola [14th in 17:41].
