Haddonfield left its most of its top runners at home and still placed 5th out of 40 schools Saturday at the Regis Invitational at Van Cortlandt Park.
With Bennett Wright, Benjamin Andrus, Ryan Gibson, Peter Simpson and Liam Paterson sitting this one out, Haddonfield placed its top five runners in a 19-second span on the historic 2.5-mile Vanny course in the Bronx, N.Y.
Junior Brandon Stoner ran 14:02 and placed 26th, with senior Michael Sines [30th in 14:05], senior Leoanrdo DiCello [45th in 14:14], senior Case Hurly [46th in 14:17] and junior John Leibrandt [51st in 14:21] rounding out the Bulldogs’ top five. Junior Aaron Keith was just a few seconds back in 55th in 14:28. There were nearly 400 runners in the race.
St. Francis Prep of Manhattan won with 115 points, followed by St. Anthony’s of South Huntington, Nassau County, N.Y. [129], Don Bosco Prep of Ramsey [136], Xavier of Manhattan [184] and Haddonfield.
Haddonfield won the sophomore race, 76-117, over McKee/Staten Island Tech. Andrew Blum and Owen Snyder placed 3rd and 8th in 14:27 and 14:51. Other Bulldog scorers were Philip Gottschalch [21st in 15:29], Lucas Laganella [22nd in 15:32] and Luca DiCello [34th in 15:48], with Luke Patterson a few spots back in 38th in 15:56.
Haddonfield placed 6th out of 30 schools in the freshman race, with Augustan Coley 2nd in 8:37 over 2,500 meters. Ian Blair placed 8th in 9:21, giving the Bulldogs two of the top 10 finishers. Haddonfield scored 239 points.
