Moorestown girls win team title, Schalick’s Jordan Hadfield top S.J. finisher at South Jersey Shootout!!!!!!

Moorestown packed seven girls in the top 21 and won the team title, and Schalick senior Jordan Hadfield was the top South Jersey runner Saturday in the South Jersey Shootout in Logan Township.

Moorestown, led by junior Lilliana Stack Maya in 5th and senior Gabrielle DeJoseph in 6th, outscored Voorhees 38-44. The two teams were tied at 24 through four runners, but freshman Makayla Zell finished nearly a minute ahead of Voorhees’ 5th runner to lock up the team title over 5,000 meters at DREAM Park in 18:38. Voorhees is ranked 20th in New Jersey.

Delsea edged Sterling 102-106 for 3rd place.

For Moorestown, Stack Maya ran 19:29 for 5th place, DeJoseph ran 19:31 for 6th and freshman Hope Edwards also finished in the top 10 with a time of 20:18 in her 3rd varsity race.

The Quakers’ 4th runner was sophomore Sophia DiFiore [13th in 20:41], with Zell 5th. They were backed up by sophomore Siyana Sheth in 19th [20:59] and senior Sarah Brown 21st [21:12].

For team scoring purposes, Moorestown went 3-4-7-10-14-15-17.

Hadfield, the state Group 1 champ last spring in both the 1,600 and 3,200, finished a fraction of a second behind winner Daphne Roskowski of Voorhees. Officially, Roskowski ran 18:38.53 and Hadfield 18:38.65.

That means they were separated by about 15 inches at the finish line.

Holy Cross junior Julia Flanagan ran 19:23 for 4th, Camden Catholic senior Nilaa Ponnappan 19:39 in 7th, Williamstown junior Sophia Aldridge 19:40 to place 8th and Sterling’s Jonalee Adames was 9th in 19:47.
