West Deptford’s Jacob Cobb placed 3rd in the Maribel Sanchez Souther Invite Saturday in Hanover, N.H., helping MIT beat Dartmouth in its 2024 season opener.

MIT, ranked 12th in the country, defeated Dartmouth, 18-40.

On Saturday, MIT swept the top three places behind freshman Renne Cooper [25:43], senior Sam Coutts [25:46] and Cobb.

Last spring, Cobb set a school record by running 9:00.17 for the 3,000-meter steeplechase in a meet at in Williamstown, Mass.

MIT is ranked No. 1 in the NCAA Division 3 East Region and 12th in the country by the United States Track and Field and Cross Country Coaches Association [USTFCCCA].
