Ocean City girls run 9th-fastest 4-by-8 in South Jersey history in 2nd-place finish at Meet of Champions!!!!!!

All four runners PR’d and Ocean City ran the 9th-fastest 4-by-8 in South Jersey history and placed 2nd at the Meet of Champions Wednesday at Pennsauken.

Maeve Smith, Chloe Care, Frankie Ritzel and Carly Godfrey ran 9:15.51 and placed 2nd to Hillsborough, which won the race in 9:15.15.

Ocean City broke the Cape May County Record of 9:15.61 set by the 2014 Ocean City team of Cierra Granger, Devin Grisbaum, Rachel Stremme and Bridget Flynn when the Red Raiders won the 2014 state Group 2 title at South Plainfield.

Smith led off with a 2:17.56 leg and Care split 2:17.53 before handing off to Ritzel, who ran 2:24.41. Godfrey anchored in 2:20.41.
