Big Day 1 for Rider’s Mariah Stephens from Egg Harbor Township on Day 1 of MAAC Championships!!!!!!

Egg Harbor Township’s Mariah Stephens, a junior at Rider, won the long jump with a personal-best performance and recorded the top qualifying marks in both the 100-meter high hurdles and the 100-meter dash Saturday at the Metro Atlantic Athletic Confertence Championships in Lawrenceville.

Stephens jumped a wind-legal 19-4 to win the long jump, adding 2 ¾ inches to her PR of 19-1 ¼ from the indoor MAAC Championships in February. That’s No. 3 in Rider history.

She led all 100 qualifiers with her 12.13, dropping significantly from her PR of 12.25, and also led all qulifiers in the 100 hurdles trial at 14.23. She’s No. 2 in Rider history in the high hurdles and No. 4 in the 100.

On Sunday, Stephens will compete in the triple jump final at noon, the hurdles final at 12:30 p.m. and the 100 final at 1:15 p.m.
