Eastern’s Zoe Goldberg takes 4th in Penn Relays javelin !!!!!!

Eastern senior Zoe Goldberg, after barely qualifying for the final, placed 4th in the javelin Thursday morning at the 128th annual Penn Relays.

Goldberg was sitting in 8th place after three throws with a 134-9, and the cutoff to reach the finals and it took 134-7 to advance.

But in the final, she hit three big throws, including two over 140 feet. She hit 142-7 on her 1st throw of the finals and then 142-11 on her next throw before finishing with a 137-8.

She finished behind only Taysha Stubbs of Queens College in the Bahamas [154-9], Sophia Scott of Burke High in Omaha, Neb. [146-11] and Eliana Schneider of Cedar Crest High in Lebanon, Pa. [146-11].

Goldberg’s 142-9 is only 21 inches off her lifetime-best 144-6 from the Woodbury Relays this past weekend. That’s No. 8 in South Jersey history.

Goldberg placed 8th at Penn last year with a 129-1 throw.
