On Wednesday, we posted every Meet of Champions girls winner since the inception of the girls meet in 1979. You can find that list here. The boys meet started 10 years earlier in 1969, so this list is a little longer.
South Jersey didn’t have any winners in the inaugural meet in 1969 but in 1970 Camden hurdler Jim Robinson ran 7.3 to win the 60-yard hurdles and become the first.
Over the last 50 years, the only times South Jersey boys didn’t record a Meet of Champions win were 1982 and 2007. So from 1983 through 2006, that was 24 straight years with a South Jersey win. And this year will be 16 years in a row.
