Delsea junior Jonathan Harris became the ninth indoor 60-footer in South Jersey history Tuesday at the Cherokee Throwdown.

Harris threw 60-0 ¼, becoming the second 60-foot thrower in New Jerey this year. Joshua Huisman of St. Rose of Belmar threw a state-leading 63-10 at the Monmouth County Championships at the Bubble last month.

Harris becomes Delsea’s third 60-footer, joining Jason Nwosu, who threw 63-2 ½ outdoors in 2022 and World Championships medalist Josh Awotunde, who threw 61-6 outdoors in 2013. A 4th, Joe Metzger, came half an inch short of 60 feet in 2021.

Harris opened with a lifetime-best 58-8 1/2 and after two fouls hit 60-0 1/4 on his 4th and final throw. Harris’s previous PR was a 58-4 ½ at West Philly Nationals last spring, and his previous indoor PR was 58-1 ¾ this past weekend when he won the South Jersey Group 3 sectionals at the Bubble.

Harris’s throw is No. 9 on the all-time South Jersey indoor list an d No. 20 on the South Jersey combined indoor and outdoor list.

Hammonton junior Anthony Liakhnovich placed 2nd with a 56-3 on his only legal throw, just off his PR of 56-10 from last month, also at Cherokee. And Delsea senior Greg Masso [54-1], Glassboro senior Damere Lassiter [53-10 ¼], Bishop Eustace senior Shawn Brady [53-7 ½], Hammonton junior Christian Medina [PR 51-10], Paul VI junior Savien Higgs [51-5 ¾] and Delsea senior Tyler Habersham-Agbemenu [50-9 ½] all surpassed 50 feet.
