Washington Twp.’s Isabelle Deal shatters 10-year-old Rowan shot put record!!!!!!

Isabelle Deal left Ursinus with two school records and now she has her first at Rowan.

Deal, a Washington Township graduate, set Ursinus records of 42-6 ¾ in the indoor shot put and 144-10 in the javelin and was a three-time All-America in the javelin during her three years in Collegeville.

At the Seamus McElligott Invitational, Deal popped an indoor PR of 42-9 ¾ on her 5th throw, breaking the school record of 42-8 set by Pemberton graduate Kyanna Hawkins-Deravin at the 2015 New Year Invitational at Princeton’s Jadwin Gym (also on her 5th throw).

The running events were held at Haverford but the throwing events were held at Widener University in Chester.

Deal had the four-best throws of the meet – she had throws of 40-6 ½, 40-11 ¾ and 41-4 ¾ in addition to her winning 42-6 ¾.

Deal’s outdoor PR is a 43-4 ½ from last year’s Centennial Conference Championships at her home track. She actually doesn’t have the Ursinus outdoor shot record. That’s 45-1 ¾ by Rachelle Pecovsky in 1994 (although I’ve searched everywhere trying to find that performance and I can’t. It wasn’t at the conference meet, it wasn’t at NCAAs, it wasn’t at Penn Relays. I’m starting to wonder if it really happened because I can’t find any other meet that she even threw 42 feet. I’ll keep looking!)

Deal’s 42-9 ¾ is No. 1 in the NJAC this year by 5 ½ inches over Kerri McCarthy of TCNJ and Allentown High in Monmouth County. It’s No. 31 in NCAA Division 3 this year.

Last month, Rowan competed in the Collegeville Classic and Deal threw 42-0 ¾ and finished first in the shot at her former school.

Rowan’s outdoor school record is 43-2 by Angela Solomon at the 1991 New Jersey Athletic Conference Championships at The College of New Jersey in Ewing.
