Tionna Tobias PR’d again Saturday.
In two events.
Competing at the New Mexico Collegiate Classic in Albuquerque, the Winslow Township graduate and Iowa junior set lifetime bests and all-time Hawkeye top-3 marks in both the 60-meter hurdles and the long jump.
In the hurdles, Tobias lowered her PR from 8.19 last month to 8.15. Iowa apparently stopped updating its all-time performance lists because the list on their web site doesn’t show an 8.07 by Myreaanna Bebe at last year’s Big Ten Championships or an 8.00 by Paige Magee in Albuquerque last month.
But Tobias’s 8.15 looks like No. 3 in school history.

Tobias’s 8.15 is also No. 3 in the Big Ten Conference and No. 12 in NCAA Division 1. She and UConn junior Jailya Ash from Eastern give Camden County two of the top 20 hurdlers in NCAA Division 1. Ash ran 8.19 at the Armory last month.
On the U.S. list on World Athletics, Tobias is tied for No. 20 among U.S. women. (Ash is No. 27).
Tobias also PR’d in the long jump in Albuquerque with a 21-0 ½ leap. Tobias had a previous PR of 20-1 ¾ indoors in December 2022 in a meet in Iowa City.
Tobias had an outstanding series with jumps of 20-11, 21-0 and 21-0 ½ along with a 20-4 and a 20-4 ¾.
Her outdoor long jump PR is 20-9 ¼ as part of her NCAA heptathlon last spring. So she recorded the three best jumps of her life in her series Saturday.
In the long jump, Tobias is No. 11 in Division 1, No. 3 in the Big Ten and the No. 10 American on the World Athletics U.S. list.
Her mark is 6th-best ever by a South Jersey alum and best in eight years, since Gabrielle Farquharson of Williamstown and Rutgers jumped 21-5 ½ in Tallahassee, Fla.
Tobias missed the Iowa indoor school record by a quarter of an inch. It’s held by Jahisha Thomas, who jumped 21-0 ¾ to win the 2018 Big Ten Championship in Geneva, Ohio.
Tobias’s jump is best ever by a Camden County high school graduate, half an inch beyond a jump by another Winslow athlete, Cidae’a Woods, who hit 21-0 while competing for Tennessee at the 2017 SEC Championships in Columbia, S.C. It looks like it’s No. 6 all-time by a New Jersey alum.
Here’s a look at the top 10 marks indoors or outdoors in the long jump by South Jersey high school graduates:
