Even without an individual winner, the Audubon girls cruised to an impressive win in the South Jersey Group 1 sectional meet at the Bubble Friday.
Audubon scored in all seven track events to top defending champion Clayton 72-59, with Salem [49] and Haddon Township [43] 3rd and 4th.
It was Audubon’s first outright sectional title. The Green Wave shared the 2020 championship with Collingswood after both scored 75 points.
Audubon’s one first place came in the 1,600-meter relay, which the Green Wave won in 4:18.05 with the listed team of senior Arianna Bittner and sophomores Kylie Tocco, Charlotte Owens and Alaina Copsetta.
Sophomore Riley Fayer scored 24 points – one-3rd of Audubon’s total score – with 2nd-place finishes in the 800 [2:33.68], 1,600 [5:22.18] and 3,200 [11:56.18].
Copsetta medaled in the 55 and 400, taking 2nd in the 400 with a PR 1:00.53 and 3rd in the 55 with a 7.65.
Junior Elizabeth Butrica PR’d with a 9-6 for 2nd place in the pole vault and also placed 6th in the hurdles with a 10.08.
Senior Madelin Carter ran 3rd in the 800 [2:29.54] and 5th in the 3,200 [13:48.50], senior Emily Powers placed 3rd in the hurdles [9.95] and freshman Lydia Gravante scored with a 6:12.01 for 6th place in her second lifetime 1,600.
Clayton junior Leila Ortiz doubled the 55 and 400, winning the dash in a personal-best 7.41 and the 400 in 1:00.06, and Schalick junior Jordan Hadfield won the 1,600 and 3,200 with PRs of 5:12.36 and the 11:16.06.
Other winners were Salem senior Anna Buzby in the 800 [2:22.30], Clayton senior Alanna Woolfolk in the high jump [5-6], Haddon Township junior Emerson Levins in the pole vault [9-6] and Clayton senior Maylisa Bluford in the shot put [37-2].
