Clearview’s Anas Bensaoud cruises to NJCAA Region 19 title, leads Rowan College SJ to team title (and men’s/women’s sweep)!!!!!!

Clearview graduate Anas Bensaoud of Rowan College South Jersey ran 28:22 and finished 300 meters ahead of the field over the weekend at the NJCAA Region 19 Championships.

Bensaoud ran 28:22 over 8,000 meters at at Lancaster County Central Park in West Lampeter Township, Pa., finishing more than a minute ahead of 2nd-place Parker Stoner of Thaddeus Stevens College of Lancaster.

Rowan College South Jersey won its first Region 19 team title since 2014, outscoring 2nd-place Brookdale of Lincroft, Middletown Township, Monmouth County, 24-51.

RCSJ’s top five are all Gloucester County alums. Charlie Hepler from Delsea placed 3rd, Delsea’s Branden Lachowicz 5th, Gavin Casella of Kingsway 7th and John Schilling of Deptford 8th. Sixth-man Derek Wyllie from Gloucester County Tech was 16th.

In the women’s race, Courtney O’Hara of Gateway placed 2nd in 21:46.30 over 5,000 meters, Woodbury graduate Alexandra Campo was 7th, Mackenzie Cochran of Washington Township 8th, Williamstown’s Madison O’Donnell 11th and Grace Wahl of Washington Township 23rd, and Rowan won its second consecutive women’s team title 26-31 over Bergen County College of Paramus.

This is the first time since 2007 Rowan College South Jersey – formerly Gloucester County College – has swept the Region 19 men’s and women’s races.
