Collingswood senior Adam Hunt added nearly four feet to his discus PR at states, winning the Group 2 title and becoming only the 12th member of the South Jersey 180-foot club.
Hunt’s previous discus PR was a 176-6 when he won states last year. His season-best this year going into states was 175-5 at the South Jersey Invitational.
Hunt has lost just once this year to a South Jersey thrower — he was second to Cade Antonucci of Holy Spirit at the Woodbury Relays.
He goes into the Meet of Champions as the No. 2 seed behind only nationally top-ranked Jordan West of Rahway, who threw 203-6 at the state Group 3 meet — more than 10 feet over his former PR. That’s No. 6 in state history and the best by a New Jersey thrower since Sam Mattis of East Brunswick threw 204-3 in 2011.
