I’m just writing to inform you that Baxton is no longer the Throws Coach at Rowan University, Vanita Moses is.

You’ve listed Brandon in your all time list even though he was disqualified. If he was disqualified then the performance never happened and should not be listed

At the time I wrote that post, he hadn’t been disqualified. As soon as I learned about the DQ, I wrote a second post about that. I’m not going to go back and delete or edit an earlier post.

Reuben I guess you get your rankings from mile split. I have emailed Robert Kellert under separate cover. Rankings list all time MOC 4×4 Camden 2006 3:47.55. That was the 2005 team, not the 2006.

Additionally, all time lists 4×4 Camden 3:47.55. At the 2005 Penn SJ 4×4 Camden ran 3:46.94 a record that still stands. The next day the same quartet ran 3:45.41 for 4th in the Championship of America final (their 3rd consecutive (CofA final), a then SJ record. Neither of these performances are listed.

On the indoor list that same 95 quartet ran 3:48.00 at Harvard at the Easterns States tying the then state record held by Plainfield.

A different note, the six young ladies of that Speedcity unit broke the South Jersey record in the 4×2, the 4×4 and the sprint medley, I doubt any high school squad ever held 3 of the 8 recognized relays at one time. They also ran then top 5 SJ performances in the 4×1 and 4×8.

    Reuben,
On today’s list of indoor mile marks under 4:20, John Richardson (Ocean City) is missing. John ran 4:19.63 while finishing 2nd at the 2002 New Balance Games.

Hi, I added Leah in the hurdles, sorry about the omission.

I haven’t posted the indoor long jump list yet though! Probably over the weekend.

Leah is #5 on that list.

      Thanks

    Hey good afternoon,

One of my friends forwarded me the article. My sister and I are listed as the wrong grades. Marina Perdue is a freshman and I myself Mirrah Perdue, is a junior.

I read your articles quite often and find them very good. I have been watching track events for years. Thank goodness for your articles and Milesplit to watch videos when I can’t attend all those events.

There is something I watched this weekend in the Sectionals for Groups 1 & 4.
All of them were terrific with some terrific competition.

But I witness something I did not think was allowed from my running days. An athlete in my day was only allowed to run 3 events and 1 field event. I saw this weekend something you never see was in Group 4 South Girls an athlete run in 4 events. I thought this was not allowed due to events sometimes being back to back with no rest time. The athlete won 3 Sectional Championship Titles in the 400, 800, 4×400, placed 2nd on the fourth event in the 1600. I do not remember ever seeing an athlete run this many times and win. It actually came down to the final event as 2 schools were tied prior to the final event. I think they used her in the final event 4×400 since it was tied and they needed to win to win the Team Championship.

Was this allowed, just curious because I never see this in all the years I have been watching Track.

    Thank you

Hey, Joe, thanks for the note. They actually changed that rule limiting an athlete to three track events, gosh, at least 15 or 20 years ago. It’s still rare – especially indoors where meets are held over just one day – but it is done sometimes. Not ideal for the athlete but you do see it occasionally! Enjoy the rest of track season!

Hello I was just wondering what is the criteria of the athletes from South Jersey that you follow throughout their college career? My son ran for Deptford High was part of many sectional, state and MOC champs. He has been running in college for the last 4 years and not one article has been written about his success. His team won nationals in 2019, he placed 5th at nationals running 7.97 in the 60mh in 2023. And currently has a PR of 7.92.

I spend hours every week in my spare time scouring results looking for South Jersey athletes to write about, and I do my best. But there are some that slip through the cracks – especially those who aren’t running in the Northeast or run for NAIA schools or junior colleges – and if I don’t know about them I can’t write about them. I’ve written about a number of former Deptford hurdlers, including Naseem Smith and Tyler Garland.

You didn’t mention your son’s name or school, but I figured out that he’s Javon Sanders at Indiana Tech. I’ll keep an eye on him the rest of the year.

Ryan Jennings from Timber Creek Track will be participating in the USATF Junior Olympics in Texas this week top seeded for the 100m and 200m races. It will be streamed. Back In June she participated in the USATF National at Icahn stadium and came in first place in the 100m naming her the USATF Junior National Champion and a cool 2nd place in the 200m race.

Recently, She won the USATF Regional Championship in the 100 and 200 so she is now the USATF Region 2  100 and 200 Champion! In the 100 she ran an 11.4 and in the 200 she ran 23.9.

She did good! She came in 2nd place in the 200m and 6th place in the 100. She was very tired from her season of over 110 races since November and she just gave out, but she did awesome! 11.6 in 100 and 23.98 in 200 not Pr’s but relatively good no less.
